Valery Viktorovych Heletej (born August 28, 1967 in Verkhny Koropez , Transcarpathian Oblast , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian officer and politician.

In 2008 Heletej was promoted to Colonel General. On July 3, 2014, he became the third defense minister in the first Yatsenyuk cabinet, succeeding Mychajlo Kowal . On October 14, 2014 he was replaced in this position by Stepan Poltorak . Between July 5 and October 27, 2014, as Minister of Defense, he was a member of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine . On October 15, 2014, Heletej was appointed head of the Ukrainian State Security ( Управління державної охорони України ) by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko .

Heletej is married and has two sons.
