The pilgrimage church Maria Hilf , completed in 1798/99 on the high plateau of the Gnotschaft Loipl , is the oldest church building in Bischofswiesen . As a branch church, it belongs to the Roman Catholic parish association Stiftsland Berchtesgaden in the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising .

The building was built as a chapel by the residents of Loipl in 1798/99 under the name To Our Lady . According to Brugger, it was inaugurated (“designated”) in 1800 by the Reichsstift - Capitular Franz Xaver Graf von Berchem . Thanks to an indulgence ("Awers"), it developed into a pilgrimage church from 1805 , which attracted many pilgrims throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. When the name Pilgrimage Church Maria Hilf was officially introduced and whether and when the building was expanded is currently unknown.

Furnishing

The central image of the high altar is a copy of a representation of Maria-Hilf by the painter Lucas Cranach. Above is a crucifixion group with Mary and John, on the left of which St. Joachim, on the right mother Anna. Below St. Joachim are Florian and Sebastian, on the same level to the right Theresa and a saint of the order. Two relics are incorporated to the left and right of the tabernacle. A reliquary of the blessed Father Kaspar Stangassinger from Berchtesgaden is in a monstrance on the left wall. The cafeteria is under the tabernacle . A pelican is worked into the middle of the altar table, which is surrounded by two reliefs that represent the miracle of bread and wine multiplication. In the nave there are 20 figures on the side walls, including the 12 apostles and a Way of the Cross by the Landshut artist Finkenzeller. Of the once numerous votive tablets, only nine are left.

The Mount of Olives Chapel and a fountain belong to the outside area of ​​the church .

The pilgrimage church Maria Hilf in Loipl belonged from 2000 together with the parish church Herz-Jesu in Bischofswiesen, the parish church St. Michael in Strub and the parish church St. Johann Nepomuk in Winkl to the Roman Catholic parish association Bischofswiesen .
