Walmsburg ( Low German Walmsborg ) (often called Bleckede-Walmsburg to emphasize that it belongs to the city ) is the southernmost district of the city of Bleckede in the Lüneburg district . The town of Reeßeln ( Lage ), a little south of the town, also belongs to the district .
On March 1, 1974, Walmsburg was incorporated into the city of Bleckede.
The district is located on Elbuferstraße and directly on the district boundary to Lüchow-Dannenberg ; the phone code is even shared with the community of Neu Darchau, which belongs to it .
The historic center is only a semi-circular Rundlingsdorf , and is as such in its arrangement listed building . The building itself is also historic, with the exception of a house that was rebuilt in a modern way after a fire in the 1980s. This is just a proof of two round Lingen in the district of Lueneburg - the second is to Samtgemeinde Dahlenburg associated Buendorf - it whereas in Lüchow-Dannenberg more than 100 are. In the west of the village there is also a log cabin settlement on the edge of the forest .
There are no shopping opportunities in the place apart from a fishing shop. The Café Hofliebe the only restaurant in town was already several times in television reports of the NDR mentioned.
Despite its proximity to the Elbe, the place was not diked until 2009, as the altitude of the town exceeded the height of the dike of the former East German office of Neuhaus and was therefore considered sufficient. However, a level mark on Wiesenweg makes it clear that this was not always enough historically. After the Elbe floods in 2002 and 2006 , when this height proved to be sufficient only with the aid of sandbags, it was decided to build a dike east of the village.
