Walter Laufenberg (* 1935 in Opladen , today Leverkusen ) is a German writer and blogger .

Life

Walter Laufenberg studied law and economics in Cologne, Saarbrücken and Berlin and did his doctorate in social science . He worked in various professions, such as television editor and reporter at WDR and ZDF , as a filmmaker and publisher , as advertising manager for the German Development Service and as advertising and public relations director of Berlin. After many changes of residence (Berlin, Bonn , Aachen , Oldenburg , Heidelberg , Speyer ) he lives for example. Currently in Mannheim .

In 1970 he was one of the first to set up an alternative publishing house , Argus-Verlag in Opladen (closed in 1977).

Laufenberg has written for newspapers and magazines and film productions as well as for radio stations for WDR, NDR and Südwestfunk , and since 1982 numerous articles in the cultural magazine TransAtlantik . He published a few non-fiction books and then devoted himself entirely to fiction . In his books, the question of the basic motivation for human action is repeatedly raised. According to Laufenberg, people - everyone without exception - do everything only to intensify their self-awareness. He calls this the "Laufenberg instinct". The author comes to this conclusion when he continues to question the usual reasons for action. In this way, goals that seem so natural to him, such as money, power, fame and sex, become mere transitory interests, because ultimately the interest in one's own self becomes clear behind them; because nothing is more important to a person than his self. Laufenberg believes that knowing this is a protection against seduction through feigned noble motifs. The ego-fixation, generally despised as egoism, is not negative for him, since it becomes valuable for a community in every decision in which one places the community interest above his ego interest because he sees himself as part of this community (the reflected Laufenberg instinct).

At the turn of the year 1995/96 he founded the internet magazine LaufenbergNETzine (see web links ) as a non-commercial periodical , the first German-language blog , called Netzine , which mainly provides current and pseudo-current issues , a blasphemous lexicon and book and film reviews as well as travel pictures.
