Walter Musshoff
Walter Musshoff (born October 2, 1885 in Neisse , † December 12, 1971 in Mannheim ) was a German officer , most recently General of the Air Force Aviators in World War II .

Musshoff joined the 3rd Upper Silesian Infantry Regiment No. 62 on April 3, 1905 as a flag junior , where he remained until the end of July 1914. During this time he attended the Prussian War Academy in Berlin from October 1912 to January 1914 and was assigned to the 1st Grand Ducal Hessian Field Artillery Regiment No. 25 from July 1, 1913 to the end of September 1913 . From January to March 1914 he also completed an aviation training course at Aviation Department 1 .
With the outbreak of World War I , Musshoff served as a pilot in Feldflieger -teilung 16 from August 1, 1914 to the end of April 1916 and then transferred to the General Staff of Army Group Eichhorn on May 1, 1916 under the command of Colonel General Hermann von Eichhorn . Musshoff stayed there until September 14, 1916. He then served from September 15, 1916 to November 9, 1918 in the General Staff of the 10th Army and then from November 10, 1918 to mid-February 1919 in the General Staff of the III. Reserve Corps . After a brief assignment from February 15 to 28, 1919 in the General Staff of the Army, Musshoff was assigned to the staff of the Görlitz Freikorps on March 1, 1919 . He stayed there until the end of June 1921 and resigned from military service on June 30, 1921 with the rank of major.
On August 15, 1933, Musshoff was reactivated for the Reichswehr Air Force, which was under construction , but was still without an assigned task as an officer for special use in the Reich Aviation Ministry until the end of March 1934 . It was not until April 1, 1934, while he was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel, that he became Chief of Staff of Luftkreis-Kommando IV in Münster , whose function he held until the end of September 1937. Subsequently, from October 1, 1937 to January 31, 1939, he was initially commander in Luftgau 13 in Nuremberg or, after it was renamed Luftgau XIII, its commanding general from October 1, 1938 .
For February 1, 1939 Musshoff came to the end of May 1939 in the leader Reserve of the Air Force high command one. On June 1, 1939 he became the commanding general and commander in Luftgau I in Königsberg . Musshoff held this position until February 12, 1940 and was appointed commander of Luftgaustabes 100 on the same day. On October 31, 1940 he resigned from this post and on November 1, 1940 was promoted to Lieutenant General Richter at the Reich Court Martial . Musshoff fulfilled his duties until the end of September 1943. Then he returned to the Reich Aviation Ministry in Berlin on October 1, 1943. His duties there until the end of the war are not known.
On April 11, 1945, he was taken prisoner by the United States , from which he was released on March 6, 1947.
