collection

In the early 1950s, Putz acquired his first gastronomic work with an edition of Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin's Physiology of Taste . It formed the starting point for his collection, which he steadily expanded and which soon aroused the interest of gastrosopers and bibliophiles .

In June 2005 he donated his Bibliotheca Gastronomica, which had grown to more than 4,000 volumes from the 16th to the 21st century, to the Saxon State Library - Dresden State and University Library (SLUB) . All works can be researched online in the SLUB catalog, a selection of more than 400 volumes has been digitized. In May 2008 his collection was presented with an exhibition in the Badische Landesbibliothek , and Walter Putz was honored with a round table from the Gastronomic Academy of Germany in Brenner's Parkhotel. In 2010, Putz bequeathed his collection through Gottfried Benn to the Saxon State Library.
