Walter Subject is a German band from Reutlingen in Baden-Württemberg . The English name was derived from the film character "Walter Sobchak" from the comedy film The Big Lebowski .
history
The band was founded at the beginning of 2008 by singer Marc Ruff and drummer Udo “Brad Chainsaw” Neugebauer and was completed a short time later by bassist Christoph Kluck and guitarists Manuel Randecker and Dominik Prause. All band members already knew each other from the local music scene and played together in bands such as Suit Yourself or One Million Thoughts . After a few months, the first mini EP Walter Subject was produced and distributed in-house.
After national appearances, the band released the second EP Out of Your Elements in 2010 , which was also recorded and produced independently. The EP was the Digital Distribution of Regioactive distributed internationally in digital form.
In 2011 further club and festival appearances followed ( e.g. at the KuRT Festival and at the Rock Days ).
The band experienced a career boost in 2012 when they won first place in a band contest organized by the Schwäbische Zeitung and was thus able to open the Southside Festival . In the same year, the song Righty Right was voted number 1 in the Dasding Netzparade for 12 weeks . In the end, Righty Right landed as the only newcomer song in the annual charts of the radio station Dasding.
After a tour of Great Britain in September 2012 with concerts a. a. in Chester and Stroud , the band went to the Woodhouse recording studio in Hagen in November 2012 and recorded the first studio album We Are the Subject under the direction of producer Siggi Bemm . The music album and the first single to Take a Ride were in 2013 on the music label 7Music / Seven us Media Group, based in Winnenden published. Take a Ride reached numerous airplays (including SWR3 and Dasding ), the music video was broadcast on various stations (including Tape.tv and IM1 ). Another single release including a music video for The Road to Hell Is Paved with Good Intentions followed in 2014 .
The booking agency Extratours took over the festival booking of the band.
On December 2, 2016, the band released the first single Vicious Circles from the January 2017 studio album Just Dance Like Nobody's Watching, including a music video .
On January 27, 2017, the second studio album Just Dance Like Nobody's Watching was released .
On June 24th 2017 the band won first place in the live music contest "Fürstenberg Local Derby" in Donaueschingen. The final was held as part of the Danube Spring Festival.
On July 18, 2018, the band released the second single Black Notes from the studio album Just Dance Like Nobody's Watching, including a music video .
