Traudl Herrhausen
Waltraud "Traudl" Herrhausen (born May 15, 1943 in Dornbirn as Waltraud Baumgartner ) is a politician ( CDU ) and was a member of the Hessian state parliament .
education and profession
From 1961 to 1966 she studied at the University of World Trade in Vienna , where she graduated with a diploma in business administration. After her first professional activity, she began studying medicine in Innsbruck in 1971 . In 1980 she passed her medical examination and worked as an assistant doctor in the surgical university clinic in Frankfurt am Main in 1986/1987 .
politics
From 1991 to March 31, 2003 she was a member of the Hessian state parliament, in which she was active as spokeswoman for university policy for the CDU parliamentary group and, among other things, in the committee for science and art.

Traudl Herrhausen has been a long-standing member of the highest governing body of the Private University of Witten / Herdecke , the directorate.
Traudl Herrhausen has been chairwoman of the board of trustees of the Center for Applied Cultural Studies and General Studies at the University of Karlsruhe since 2002 . In this role, she and the directorate are responsible for the development of the applied cultural studies area.
Traudl Herrhausen has been a member of the University Council of the Technical University of Darmstadt since April 2003 and of the new University Council of the Hannover Medical School since July 2003 . Also in 2003 she was elected to the board of trustees of the German Rheumatism Research Center in Berlin .
Since 2004, Traudl Herrhausen has been a member of two of the newly established boards of trustees of the Max Planck Society : the board of trustees of the Max Planck Institute for European Legal History and the board of trustees of the Max Planck Institute for Brain Research, both in Frankfurt. From 2009 to July 2014, Traudl Herrhausen was a member of the jury of what was then the “Financial Forum Forward Thinking”, which awards the Vordenker Award.
Ms. Herrhausen was a board member of the German Multiple Sclerosis Society , State Association of Hesse, for over twelve years .
Honors
Traudl Herrhausen was awarded the honorary title of the University of Kassel on February 15, 2002 . In 2010 she received the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class, and in 2019 the Leibniz Medal of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences .
Personal
In 1977 she married Alfred Herrhausen , the spokesman for the board of directors of Deutsche Bank , in Innsbruck , who was killed in a bomb attack on November 30, 1989. In 2001 the documentary film Black Box BRD by Andres Veiel was released , in which she told the story of the murder of her husband from her perspective.
Traudl Herrhausen lives in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe .
