Varvara Alexandrovna Bachmetewa
Varvara Alexandrowna Bachmetewa , née Lopuchina ( Russian Варвара Александровна Бахметева , scientific transliteration Varvara Aleksandrovna Bachmeteva ; * 1815; † September 9, 1851 in Moscow ) , was a Russian lover of Mikhail Lermontlige .
Life
Varvara ( German Barbara ) Lopuchina, the daughter of Marshal Alexander Nikolajewitsch Lopuchin (1779-1833) and his wife Ekaterina Petrovna Vereschagina († before 1818), came from the noble family of Lopuchins and was the penultimate of the couple's eight children. Warwara's brother Alexei studied with Lermontov at Moscow University from 1828 to 1832 . Warwara's sisters Marija and Jelisaweta (1809–1882) were also close friends with the poet. Marija's correspondence with Lermontov has been preserved.
When Varvara returned to Moscow from her parents' estate in November 1831, the love between her and Lermontov began. Relatives of the poet claim in their memoirs that Lermontov loved Varvara until his death. But the Lopukhin family - especially the father - were against alliance with a rebellious student.
In May 1835, twenty-year-old Varvara married a state councilor with a good reputation in her parents' house in Moscow's Molschanowka - the 37-year-old landowner Nikolai Fyodorowitsch Bachmetjew (1797-1884) from the aristocratic family of the Bachmetevs. Varvara's father had not turned away the wealthy Bachmetiev. It is said of Mikhail Buturlin that the husband was extremely jealous of Lermontov. He even forbade his young wife to even mention the poet's name. It is said that Bachmetev destroyed Lermontov's correspondence with Varvara. Lermontov's research is therefore dependent on the above-mentioned correspondence between Maria and the poet.
Soon after the wedding, Varvara fell ill and went abroad several times for treatment. In the marriage of Bachmeteev and Varvara children were born who - with the exception of the daughter Olja (1836–1912) - died early. Varvara died during pregnancy at the age of 36 and was buried in the cemetery of Donskoy Monastery .
Varvara in Lermontov's factory
According to Pawel Wiskowatow and Akim Schan-Girei, the model for Princess Ligowskaya in Lermontov's novel of the same name was Varvara.
Adequate references can still be found in the poems Saschka and The Demon. Finding an oriental narrative .
In the drama Two Brothers and A Hero of Our Time , Lermontov processed, among other things, “what happened to him in Moscow” - that is, the loss of his beloved to a much older, rich, reputable rival.
In his verse drama The Spaniards , the poet used Varvara as a model for the protagonist Emilia.
Honor
Nikolai Bachmetjew also loved his wife. In 1846, hoping for the recovery of the sick Varvara, he had the Annunciation Monastery of St. Barbara built in the village of Fjodorowka in the Togliatti district / Samara Oblast .
