action

The two criminals Mr. Parker and Mr. Longbaugh struggle with donating sperm and blood. By chance, they finally find their chance for the big money when they hear from pregnant Robin, the surrogate mother for a wealthy couple. They eventually surprise her and her bodyguards at Dr. Allen Painter. A shootout and chase ensues, in which the two escape from the bodyguards Jeffers and Obecks who follow them. Now all sorts of secondary characters with their own motifs join the story. Since Mr. Chidduck, a rich man, is a " straw man " for richer people and their illegal business, he wants to solve the kidnapping without the police and at the same time, on the advice of his old "friend" Sarno, himself a rough man, without paying a ransom Bring it to an end. Otherwise the police could trace the money back to their bosses.

On the run, the two criminals Parker and Longbaugh call a doctor at a gas station about Robin's pain. The doctor makes an unauthorized rescue attempt, but it fails. Instead, they send him to Mr. Chidduck with a cell phone to start negotiations. There the two crooks demand a ransom of 15 million US dollars by phone.

Parker and Longbaugh bring the heavily pregnant Robin to a motel in Mexico, where the ransom will be handed over. Gradually the entanglements between people are becoming clearer. The doctor Dr. Allen Painter is actually the son of Mr. Chidduck and after a pertinent, but unspecified incident in Brinston, no longer cares for births, but only performs abortions. At the same time he is the actual father of the child, since the Chidduck embryo has died, which he keeps a secret until the end of the film. Meanwhile, a sexual relationship between Mrs. Chidduck and Jeffers is suggested.

Jeffers and Obecks meanwhile think about how they can capitalize on the matter themselves and plan to bag the money themselves. At the motel, heavily pregnant Robin seems to evoke pity from Parker, which is why he questions himself, his life and his past as a criminal. Meanwhile, Sarno, who is acting on his own, arrives to end the matter on his own. However, Longbaugh rejects his proposal of one million US dollars in cash, even if the two get along well in the bar. When he disappears, however, he leaves his old friend Abner Mercer behind for observation.

After a briefing in Chidduck's house, Chidduck decides that handing over the ransom is still the best thing, because he doesn't trust his people and he only cares about the child. The doctor is supposed to drive ahead with the bodyguards and hand over $ 50,000 to keep them quiet until Chidduck comes with the money. However, Jeffers and Obecks plan to kill everyone and pocket the money themselves. When Parker and Longbaugh ignore Robin for a moment, Robin armed herself with a shotgun and informed the Mexican police by phone. A little later there is a firefight when the troops around Jeffers and Obecks, together with the doctor, meet the Mexican police, the fleeing Robin and the now intervening Abner in front of the motel. Longbaugh opened fire on those present from a hill with a sniper rifle with a bipod . Obecks dies and Jeffers escapes with the doctor and Robin in the car. Abner follows them and notifies Sarno via cell phone.

They are now fleeing to a brothel in a small Mexican village. Robin's baby arrives and the doctor has to deliver by caesarean section in the dirty room. At the same time, a shootout begins around them as Parker and Longbaugh follow suit. Jeffers and the brothel boss are killed. The shocked and blood-splattered doctor sends Parker and Longbaugh away. Now, however, the Chidduck killer troop arrives with the $ 15 million. Subsequently, Sarno, who acts unauthorized, leaves behind the dying Abner, who sustained a fatal wound in the previous shooting at the motel. Another shootout ensues in which all the killers die, but Sarno seriously injures Parker and Longbaugh, who were about to grab the money. After the shooting, baby cries can be heard from the house - the birth was successful and Sarno notifies a waiting ambulance. It also turns out that he is probably Robin's father. They continue with the ambulance, leaving Parker and Longbaugh dying who utter a few philosophical sentences about their life and God. In the following final scene, Mrs. Chidduck says that she is pregnant herself.

Reviews

"A sometimes unbearably hard thriller, which does not have a newfangled cynical attitude, but rather aims in the direction of a believable gangster drama, at the end of which there is even something like redemption and the hope of a new life."

Trivia
