Geoffrey Lewis (born July 31, 1935 in Plainfield , New Jersey - † April 7, 2015 in Woodland Hills , California ) was an American actor .

Life

He got his first role in a film in 1963, but he only played his first major role in 1972 in the western flick Greenhorn . Lewis starred in several films by and with Clint Eastwood . He has appeared in numerous television series in guest roles, including Our Little Farm , An Angel on Earth , The X-Files - The FBI's Scary Cases and Nip / Tuck - Beauty Has Its Price . Lewis was also active as a screenwriter. In 1993 he wrote the screenplay for the film The Janitor . He made his debut as a director in 1996 when he directed several episodes for the television series Land's End .

Geoffrey Lewis was married twice. He had a total of ten children, one of whom is the actress Juliette Lewis . He was a member of Scientology .
