Silbersattel (original title: Sella d'argento ) from 1978 is a late spaghetti western by the Italian director Lucio Fulci . It started in the German-speaking area on September 24, 1979.

action

Ten-year-old Roy Blood shoots his father's murderer. He takes his horse, which has a silver saddle. Many years later, Roy Blood comes through a desert-like area, where he meets the Leichenfledderer Doubletten-Snake after a stagecoach robbery. This then attaches itself to his heels and arranges an assignment for the murder of Thomas Barrett. However, only a small boy arrives at the cemetery where this is to be carried out and Roy is ambushed. From then on he reluctantly protects the little boy, as his uncle Thomas Barrett was one of his father's deceivers and is now acting in the background as an inheritance sneak. When the junior is kidnapped by the Mexican bandits Garrinchas, Roy himself comes under suspicion and is imprisoned. However, with the help of Margaret Barrett, he escapes from prison and, together with his accomplice Snake, saves the boy.

criticism

Most of the critics expressed their disappointment. For the lexicon of international film , the work was “an unimaginative but action-packed spaghetti western that reproduces a tried and tested scheme without originality”. Guntram Lenz summarized: (It was created) “a soft western, neither fish nor meat, neither colt nor water spray gun. A sometimes exciting gangster ballad of the supposedly noble against will in a bad time, whose staging could easily be Chicago or the White House. " Genre connoisseur Christian Keßler was also at odds: “The action scenes are set sparingly, but executed brilliantly. Nothing great, the film, but a safe bet that you can't go wrong with. "
