content

John Tarwater, an old prospector, and his grandson Bill are roaming the snowy woods in Klondike when they encounter the dog Wolfsblut, whose master was murdered by thieves. They take him with them and reach a gold rush town where Sister Evangelina is leading a mission. The writer Jason Scott, bored by lecture tours about his adventures, and his friend, mine inspector Kurt Jansen, are also there. They quickly discover that the gold diggers are under the knot of Charles Forth, a wheelchair-dependent businessman who uses shady methods and with the help of the corrupt Lieutenant Leclerc to put people under pressure. Scott recognizes the dog, but leaves him with Bill Tarwater.

Sister Evangelina, who works against Smith and keeps a record of his crimes, dies when Forth sets fire to her mission; Scott is able to rescue Bill from the flames with the help of Wolfsblut. Old John learns the location of a gold mine from a leg amputee and passes his knowledge on to Bill before he dies. In a race with the people of Forth, Scott and those who support him manage to secure the mine and to find out about the culprit. Forth is the infamous Beauty Smith, who is not paralyzed at all.

criticism

“The second 'Wolfsblut' film by Fulci is a bit more action-heavy, which makes it appear less intense than its predecessor, but also a bit faster. The script allows for a few deepenings and ironic dodges that were still absent in the first part. (...) The later 5 'Wolfsblut' films increasingly emphasized the character of a children's film and thus clearly fell apart from the Fulcis. "
