The Weilheimer Hut (also known as the Krottenkopf Hut ) is located at 1955 m in the Ester Mountains in the Bavarian Prealps on the Krottenkopf . The hut is managed by the Weilheim section of the DAV and is the base for numerous tours in the region in both summer and winter.
history
In 1883, built section " Weilheim - Murnau " of the German and Austrian Alpine Club hut below the summit, which opened on July 8, was next winter but already destroyed. The new hut, built in a more convenient location, opened on July 5, 1884. In the same year, a path was built across the Pustertalalm to the hut.
In 1970 a material ropeway was built to supply the hut. From 1990 the kitchen wing was renewed, a biological sewage treatment plant was built, the generator was converted to biodiesel and solar cells with batteries and a wind turbine for the power supply were built.
A new winter room next to the Weilheimer Hütte was completed in 2002, and in 2003 a solar system was installed to generate hot water.
