Viticulture in Delaware refers to viticulture in the American state of Delaware . Under U.S. law, every state and county is a protected designation of origin and does not need to be recognized as such by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives .
Due to the almost warm, humid tropical climate, viticulture is only just beginning: only two wineries are registered that produce fruit wines as well as wine from vines .
Viticulture goes back to Swedish settlers in 1638 .
