Wenckstern (noble family)
Wenckstern , also Wenkstern , is the name of an old Mecklenburg and Brandenburg noble family .
history
The von Wenckstern were first mentioned in a document on July 6, 1315 with Hermann Wenkesterne , knight and surety of Duke Rudolf von Sachsen-Wittenberg . The secured trunk series begins with Klaus Wenckstern († before 1490), Lord of Lenzerwische . The family was already seated in a castle in 1353 at Redefin Castle in Mecklenburg and in 1363 at Wencksternburg in Prignitz . In 1572 it took part in the transfer of the Mecklenburg convents to the knighthood. Since the 18th century , the family had used the title of baron in Hanover , which it had also used without objection in Belgium , Russia and Austria .
The family is not to be confused with a family of the same name from Hesse , which derives its line from the Hesse-Kassel lieutenant colonel Johann von Wenckstern († 1659). From this family, the Prussian lieutenant and later major Ludwig von Wenckstern received the Prussian nobility recognition in Berlin on June 3, 1798. These von Wenckstern had a growing red lion in the divided coat of arms above in gold, three golden windows below in blue. On the helmet with red-gold-blue blankets the growing lion.
In the registration book of the Dobbertin monastery there are four entries by daughters of the von Wenckstern families from Hese and Carlow from 1751 to 1899 for inclusion in the local aristocratic women's monastery .
