On Ceylon , today's Sri Lanka , the wealthy plantation owner Pinaud is brutally murdered. His attractive German wife Anne is suspected of the act and arrested by Inspector Cerdan. He should take her to Colombo . But the plane on the way there gets caught in a heavy storm and crashes a little later. Anne Pinaud and Cerdan are the only ones of the crew to survive and save themselves on a desert island. There they come across Werner Becker, who has been shipwrecked with his yacht and is also stranded here.

While Cerdan continues to hold Anne guilty of the crime, Werner believes in her innocence. The tension between the two men soon builds up and they become rivals for Anne's favor. Becker kills Cerdan in a life and death duel. The search for those missing from the plane crash is now in full swing. Finally success is achieved, the two survivors are found. Anne is transferred to Ceylon . Then the real murderer of the plantation owner is finally caught and Anne can return to Becker's arms.

The film was made between April 27 and May 30, 1974 in collaboration with Ceylon Tours, Colombo in Sri Lanka and the Maldives . The world premiere took place on September 11, 1974 in Munich .

This film was based on a novel by Heinz G. Konsalik .

Niko Matul designed the buildings and Ina Stein designed the costumes .
