Werner Hering

Werner Hering (born March 20, 1930 in Königstein ; † October 17, 2012 in Dresden ) was a SED politician who was head of the health policy department of the SED Central Committee between 1959 and 1981 .

Life

Hering, the son of a worker, was a line worker and telegraph operator in Pirna after attending elementary school in 1945 and joined the SED as a member in 1946. After high school at a high school , he was briefly new teachers in Leipzig , before studying the 1948-1952 Law at the University of Leipzig completed. After a subsequent scientific apprenticeship , he became a member of the SED Central Committee in March 1953 and first sector manager in 1955 and, in 1956, deputy head of the science department.

In 1959, Hering succeeded Fritz Schellhorn as head of the health policy department of the SED Central Committee and held this position for 22 years until he was replaced by Karl Seidel in 1981. In this position he was a member of the council of the Ministry of Health.

During this time took place on June 24, 1960 his promotion to Dr. jur. at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig with a dissertation on the essence, development and current main tasks of state management of science and higher education in the German Democratic Republic . In 1963 he was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit for the first time .

After he was elected candidate for the Central Committee at the Seventh Party Congress of the SED from April 17 to 22, 1967 , the IX. SED party congress from May 18 to 22, 1976, his election as a member of the Central Committee . SED party congress from April 17-21, 1986. In the meantime he was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit again in 1974 and the Labor Banner in 1980.

In 1986 Hering took over a professorship as head of the chair for constitutional law at the Academy for Medical Training of the GDR in Berlin-Lichtenberg .
