Werner Jacobs (theologian)

Werner Jacobs (born April 17, 1913 in Kassel ; † November 7, 2007 in Fulda ) was a Roman Catholic clergyman and theologian . From 1966 to 1976 he was rector of the Philosophical-Theological University of Fulda, today's Theological Faculty of Fulda .

Life

Jacobs studied theology and philosophy at the seminary in Fulda, at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg - among others with Martin Heidegger - and at the University of Jena . On December 21, 1938, he was ordained a priest in the cathedral of St. Salvator and St. Bonifatius in Fulda by Bishop Johann Baptist Dietz . He initially worked as a chaplain in Jena , and from 1941 in Mittelkalbach and Neuhof . In 1944 he became pastor in Sömmerda in Thuringia .
