Werner Toelcke (actually Tölcke ; born September 12, 1930 in Hamburg ; † October 19, 2017 ) was a German actor and writer .

Life

Toelcke came to Glauchau in Saxony with his family in 1945 and made his debut at the local theater as a student. In 1949 he passed his Abitur and in the same year began studying acting at the German Theater Institute in Weimar . In 1952 he started his acting career, which took him to the Staatstheater Dresden , the Städtische Bühnen in Magdeburg and Erfurt and the Berliner Volksbühne , where he played until 1962. From 1964 Werner Toelcke was a member of the GDR television theater company .

As a writer, Toelcke stood out primarily with crime novels. He made his debut in this genre in 1964 with Talking Dead , the novel version of a two-part television film that he had written for DEFA / DFF. The focus of this and most of his subsequent television scripts was the West German private detective Weber, whom Toelcke embodied himself in the productions. Most of Toelcke's novels were also not set in the GDR, but in Hamburg or in “a major West German city”.

In 1984 Toelcke moved to the Federal Republic of Germany, where he still occasionally worked as a screenwriter. Until his death in October 2017 he lived in Oldendorf near Itzehoe .
