Werner Waldhoff

Werner Waldhoff ( pseudonym : Claude Ericsson ; born October 16, 1943 in Breslau ; † summer 1997 ) was a German writer and translator .

Life

After graduating from high school, Werner Waldhoff served a short time in the German Armed Forces and then went on merchant navy ships to Africa , America and Southeast Asia . He broke off attempts to study physics , economics and computer science . In between he worked as a waiter and truck driver . His involvement in criminal activities (especially pushing cars ) earned Waldhoff a four-year prison sentence , during which he tried to break out of the prison several times . After the detention, he began short crime stories for popular magazines to write and translate .

Werner Waldhoff's work includes detective novels , short stories , books for young people , poems and scripts for television games . In addition, he translated a large number of works of light literature , but also by authors such as Margaret Atwood and Jack Kerouac from English .
