Werner von der Schulenburg (Field Marshal)

Werner Graf von der Schulenburg (born June 3, 1679 in Apenburg ; † September 7, 1755 in Copenhagen ) was a German military as well as a Danish war secretary and field marshal.

After his studies and extensive educational trips, Matthias Johann von der Schulenburg's nephew became an officer in 1701. 1701 to 1714 he took part in the War of the Spanish Succession. For a time he represented Denmark's interests at the French court as envoy. He ended his military career as Danish Minister of War and Field Marshal. As a reward for his services, he was raised to the rank of count.

In 1754 Schulenburg's coat of arms was placed in the sandstone portal of the provost in Salzwedel. Schulenburg's epitaph is located in Apenburg.
