Wesselin Zinsow ( Bulgarian Веселин Цинзов ; born July 29, 1986 in Samokow ) is a Bulgarian cross-country skier .

Career

Zinsow has been taking part in competitions organized by the Fédération Internationale de Ski since 2004 . His best placings at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2005 in Oberstdorf were 74th place in the sprint and 22nd place in the team sprint. Since 2006 he has mainly competed in the Balkan Cup . He has won 34 wins so far (as of the end of the 2017/18 season) and won the overall ranking in 2006 , 2008 , 2011 , 2013 , 2016 and 2017 . He ran his first World Cup race in December 2007 in Kuusamo , which he finished classically in 84th place over 15 km. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Liberec in 2009 , 41st place in the 50 km mass start race was his best result. In January 2010, he got his first World Cup points in Rybinsk with 21st place in the 30 km pursuit race. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , he reached 50th place over 15 km freestyle. The 59th place in the 30 km pursuit race and the 46th place over 15 km classic he took at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2011 in Oslo . In January 2013 he won the Biela Stopa over 45 km freestyle. His best result at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2013 in Val di Fiemme was 48th place in the 30 km skiathlon. In January 2014 in Szklarska Poręba he achieved his best individual World Cup result with 14th place in the 15 km mass start race. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , he took 41st place over 15 km classic and 19th place in the team sprint. In February 2015, at the 2015 Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun, he achieved 63rd place in sprint and 39th place over 15 km freestyle and skiathlon. He finished the Tour de Ski 2015 in 38th place. In the 2015/16 season he took 39th place at the Nordic Opening in Ruka and 42nd place at the Tour de Ski 2016 . After finishing 45th in the World Cup mini tour in Lillehammer at the beginning of the 2016/17 season, he won nine Balkan Cups. At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2017 in Lahti , he achieved 48th place over 15 km classic. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , he ran to 59th place in the sprint, 36th place over 15 km freestyle and 23rd place together with Yordan Chuchuganov in the team sprint.
