The Westernach is an approximately 6.5 km long, right and southern tributary of the Danube in the Dellmensingen district of Erbach in the Alb-Danube district of Baden-Württemberg .
course
The Westernach runs between the Riss in the west and the Rot in the east. It is created north of Laupheim by the confluence of the Dürnach coming from the south and the Rottum coming from the south-southeast , both of which are much longer bodies of water than the Westernach itself.
From this "brook wedding" on, the Westernach flows a few kilometers west past Achstetten northwards in the direction of Erbach , only to flow into the Danube coming from the west not far northwest of its southern district Dellmensingen. About four hundred meters before the mouth near Riedmühle , the Westernach crosses under the Donaustetten power station canal .
Infrastructure
To the west along the Westernach, on which there are no towns apart from Erbach-Dellmensingen, runs the Südbahn (railway line Ulm - Friedrichshafen ) and not far to the east is the federal highway 30 .
