Until 1815 Wickerode was under the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Saxony and then came to the administrative district of Merseburg of the Prussian province of Saxony . For several decades, Wickerode was the seat of a mining office belonging to the Counts of Stolberg-Wernigerode. In 1819 321 people lived in 77 houses in Wickerode.
