Wide Awake in America is a four track EP by Irish rock band U2 . The EP was released in 1985. The record features two live tracks from the U2 album The Unforgettable Fire , which was released in 1984, and two tracks that had previously only been released as B-sides in the UK.

The EP was originally only released in North America and Japan. The record sold so well that it entered the UK charts as an import record. Wide Awake in America was republished internationally in 1990.

Songs

"Bad" was produced by the band and recorded on November 12, 1984 at the National Exhibition Center in Birmingham , England on the Unforgettable Fire Tour . The Edge gambled away on the very last note while recording the song. The decision was made to use the recording for the record anyway and to fix the error when mixing the record.

"A Sort of Homecoming" is a live recording from Wembley Arena in London , England on November 15, 1984. The song was produced by Tony Visconti and recorded during a pre-concert sound check. Audience sounds were added later at Good Earth Studios.

"The Three Sunrises" (also known as "Three Sunrises") was produced by the band with Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois.

"Love Comes Tumbling" was produced by the band and also appears, with a slightly different beginning, on the CD The Best of 1980–1990 .
