trip

A good six months after the album was released, U2 began the first leg of their world tour " U2 360 ° Tour " on June 30, 2009 in Barcelona .

The stage design was characterized above all by the fact that it does not have a classic stage layout with a clear "front", but rather the audience - which gives the tour its name - is on all 360 ° around the stage. The video screen and loudspeaker are not on the floor, but hang on the stage structure. In this way, more spectators than usual can attend the performances: around 10,000 extra seats per concert could be created.

Since 2011, the U2 360 ° Tour has officially been the most successful tour of all time, as it has probably surpassed the Rolling Stones' record (US $ 558 million) with revenues of around 700 million US dollars. In addition, U2 surpass the Rolling Stones in terms of audience numbers. At the end of the 360 ° tour, around 7 million viewers followed the concerts, while the Stones "only" 6.4 million.

Due to an injury to Bono during rehearsals for the tour, the tour dates were postponed unplanned. After 110 concerts in 30 countries, the last performance took place on July 30th in Moncton , Canada .

The stage of the 360 tour. In addition to the lighting system and loudspeakers, the video screen is attached to the four-legged construction of the stage. Directly below is the circular stage surrounded by the inner auditorium. At a certain distance there is a circular walkway connected by two bridges that can be swiveled over the circle.
The stage is surrounded on all sides by the audience.

Others

The film Linear by the photographer and film director Anton Corbijn was also released with the album . The film is stored with the songs from the album, which, however, are played in a different order. In addition to the album tracks, there is another track - Winter - available.

At the beginning of the studio recordings, the music producer Rick Rubin was still involved. However, the songs that were created with his collaboration were not used on the album.
