Songs of Experience is the fourteenth studio album by Irish band U2 . On December 1, 2017, the album was released in CD , vinyl and download formats .
The name of the album is derived from the volume of poetry Songs of Innocence and Experience (1789-1794) by the English poet William Blake and is therefore the successor to the 2014 album Songs of Innocence .

Others
Four fifths of the album was already finished in 2016, but after Donald Trump's election victory, the band decided to postpone the release. Bono took inspiration from Brendan Kennelly's words when writing :
"Write as if you were dead."
This resulted in the letters composed in songs, which are addressed to family, friends, fans and also to himself.

“It is definitely not easy to be U2. Unfortunately you can hear that pretty much on the Irish's new album. Perfectly crafted according to the tried and tested recipe, the Irish quartet is constantly chasing after itself on its fourteenth long player. U2 cuisine for U2 fans - but unfortunately without really big U2 songs. "
