Victor Reneischi

Victor Reneischi ( Belarusian Віктар Іосіфавіч Ранейскі Wiktar Iossifawitsch Ranejski ; born January 24, 1967 in Babrujsk , Belarusian SSR ) is a former Soviet canoeist who started for the Republic of Moldova after 1992 . Together with Nicolae Juravschi, he won two Olympic gold medals and a silver medal in the two-man canoe .

Career

Reneischi, who originally started for Dynamo Babrujsk, was together with Yevgeny Sbitnjew Junior World Champion over 500 meters and over 1000 meters in 1985. At the 1986 World Championships , he and Alexander Kalnitschenko won the silver medal over 500 meters behind Hungarians János Sarusi and István Vaskuti . From 1987 Reneischi started with the Moldovan canoeist Nicolae Juravschi.

At the Olympic Games in 1988 Reneischi and Juravschi won over 500 meters with almost two seconds ahead of the Poles Marek Dopierała and Marek Łbik , the day after the two Soviet canoeists won over 1000 meters with over three seconds ahead of Olaf Heukrodt and Ingo Spelly and the two Poles .

In 1989 the program at the World Championships in Plovdiv was expanded to include the four-man Canadian . Reneischi and Juravschi won the title in the two-man Canadian over 500 meters, while Yuri Gurin and Valeri Weschko competed for the Soviet Union over 1000 meters and won the bronze medal. Juravschi, Reneischi, Gurin and Weschko competed together in the four-man Canadier and won the title both over 500 meters and over 1000 meters. The following year Juravschi and Reneischi won over 500 meters at the World Championships in Poznan , in the four-man Canadian over 1000 meters they won together with Gurin and Weschko. The Soviet team competed for the last time at the 1991 World Championships in Paris . Juravschi and Reneischi won the silver medal over 500 meters and bronze over 1000 meters. Together with Gurin and Weschko they won over both distances in a foursome.

After the Soviet Union broke up, Juravschi competed for Romania at the 1992 Olympic Games , Reneischi missed these Olympic Games. In 1994 Reneischi moved to the Republic of Moldova and Juravschi returned to his home country from Romania. At the 1995 World Championships , the two won over 500 meters silver behind the Hungarians György Kolonics and Csaba Horváth . At the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996, the two Hungarians also won over 500 meters, ahead of the two Moldovans, who finished fifth over 1000 meters.
