Ingo Spelly (born November 6, 1966 in Lübben ) is a former German canoeist .

Ingo Spelly started canoe racing at BSG Lokomotive Kirchmöser . From there he was delegated to the children's and youth sports school Potsdam and started for the ASK Vorwärts Potsdam , from 1990 for the SC Magdeburg . He was trained by Helmut Senger and Jürgen Harpke . Spelly was Spartakiade winner in 1981 in the two-man canoe over 500 m and 1000 m, in 1983 over both distances in the one-canoe . Two years later he won the GDR championships with Ulrich Papke in two; they were then third over 1000 m, in 1987 over 500 m at the World Cup.

In 1986 and 1987 he and Papke won bronze in two at the world championships. At the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul , he drove in two with Olaf Heukrodt and won the silver medal. For this he was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in silver. He finished the world championships in 1990 and 1991 again with Papke with two gold and one silver medal. At the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona , he appeared again with Papke. The duo won gold over 1000 m and silver over 500 m. In 1993 they won their last World Cup medal with bronze. In 1995 they were last German champions over 1000 m.

For his sporting successes, he and Ulrich Papke were awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf on June 23, 1993 .

Up to the turn of 1989 Spelly was a sports soldier ( sergeant ) with the NVA , afterwards he became a fitness trainer at the art'otel in Potsdam . Since 2002 Spelly has been a vocational school teacher at the “Theodor Hoppe” vocational school in Oberlinhaus Potsdam.
