The Wilde Pfaff is 3456 m above sea level. A. one of the highest mountains in the Stubai Alps and lies directly on the border between the Austrian state of Tyrol and the autonomous Italian province of South Tyrol .
The western neighbor of the Wilder Pfaff is the Zuckerhütl ( 3507 m ), the highest mountain in the Stubai Alps. The Wilde Pfaff is usually climbed as part of an ascent of the Zuckerhütl and offers an impressive view of its higher neighbor. From the Pfaffensattel ( 3340 m ), which is located between the two peaks, the Wilde Pfaff can be reached easily over its western ridge in a good 20 minutes . From the Müllerhütte it can be climbed in a less difficult, mostly exposed climb over its east ridge in one hour ( level of difficulty II UIAA ). The access to the Pfaffensattel from the Sulzenauhütte , the Dresdner Hütte or the Hildesheimer Hütte, as well as the approach to the Müllerhütte, lead over glaciers and require appropriate experience and equipment.
