The Wilhelm-Heinrich-Riehl-Kolleg (formerly Wilhelm-Heinrich-Riehl-Institut , Riehl-Kolleg for short ) is an institute for obtaining the university entrance qualification in Düsseldorf . The Riehl-Kolleg is a publicly recognized private substitute school .
founding
On December 13, 1957, the Düsseldorf Chamber of Skilled Crafts decided to create an institute that would enable working adults to acquire a higher education entrance qualification, enable “talented craftsmen to get into management positions” and thus at the same time enable the “youngsters of the house [the Chamber of Skilled Crafts] to enter the sciences in a planned manner “Should develop. At this point in time, there were only three other such institutions nationwide : in Braunschweig (founded in 1949), in Delmenhorst (1949) and in Oberhausen (1953).
The founding idea is the creation of
"Cohesion of the educational train, which begins with the apprenticeship, via the journeyman's examination, the vocational school to be completed at the same time as well as various educational institutions to the technical college entrance qualification and finally to the university entrance qualification.
On the occasion of the graduation ceremony for high school graduates on March 10, 1961, the President of the Chamber of Crafts, Georg Schulhoff , stated:
"Based on the knowledge of the educational policy situation , the handicrafts of the Düsseldorf administrative region made a significant contribution to the last stage of the second educational path and, beyond that, fulfilled a cultural task."
After being approved as a private substitute school in April 1958, the first entrance examination required at the time was held at the Oberhausen College with 93 applicants; on December 1st of that year 31 male students started the first course. Of these in turn 16 obtained the general university entrance qualification in March 1961.
