Wilhelm Heinrich Kewenig

Wilhelm Heinrich Kewenig (born January 19, 1818 in Saarbrücken , † September 16, 1889 in Trier ) was a district court president and member of the Prussian House of Representatives .

Life

Kewenig was the son of a building inspector. He attended the Royal High School in Trier , which was headed by Johann Hugo Wyttenbach . In September 1834 he received his certificate of maturity. In the winter semester of 1834/35 he enrolled at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität in Bonn in the field of law .

In the winter semester of 1835/36 he lived with his former classmates Christian Hermann Wienenbrügge and Karl Marx in "Joseph-Straße 764" (today Joseph-Straße 29/31). In the summer semester of 1836 he attended the lecture “European International Law” with Eduard Puggé together with Karl Marx . He also took a lecture with August Wilhelm Schlegel .

In 1847 he was employed as state procurator at the Trier district court . Later he was chief procurator at the regional court in Aachen . In 1864 he was appointed president of the Trier regional court.

The Catholics put Kewenig up for election in the fifth electoral term of the Prussian House of Representatives in the Wittlich - Berncastel constituency of the Prussian House of Representatives. The district president of Trier Wilhelm Sebaldt was angry because Kewenig did not support the conservatives.

On October 1, 1879, the Saarbrücken regional court district was formed in the Cologne Higher Regional Court district with the local courts Baumholder, Birkenfeld, Grumbach, Lebach, Neunkirchen, Ottweiler, Saarbrücken, Saarlouis, Sankt Wendel, Sulzbach, Tholey and Völklingen. Wilhelm Heinrich Kewenig was the first president of the regional court in Saarbrücken . In 1888, when he was seventy, he was retired. Kewenig died on September 16, 1889 in Trier.

His brother was Alexander Kewenig (notary and counsel). He received his Abitur in Trier in 1840 and died there in 1898.
