Christian Hermann Wienenbrügge

Christian Hermann Wienenbrügge (born January 16, 1813 in Borken , † April 10, 1851 in Wadgassen ) was a German pastor , religion teacher and poet .

Life

Christian Hermann Wienenbrügge was the son of Constantin Wienenbrügge and Gertrudis Steldner . He attended elementary school in Borken. Between 1828 and 1832 he attended high school in Münster . There he was particularly influenced by the rector of the Hermann Nadermann school . On the advice of his relative Franz Xaver Biunde, he switched to the Royal High School in Trier , which was headed by Johann Hugo Wyttenbach . In September 1834 he received his certificate of maturity. As the best student of his year, he was appointed by the second director of the school Vitus Loers asked to give the high school graduates' farewell speech at the graduation ceremony.

In the winter semester of 1834/35 he matriculated at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität in Bonn in the subjects of philosophy and philology . In the winter semester of 1835/36 he lived with his former classmates Wilhelm Heinrich Kewenig and Karl Marx at Joseph-Straße 764 (today Joseph-Straße 29/31). He also took two lectures from August Wilhelm Schlegel , as did Marx.

In the fall of 1837 he finished his studies, graduated in Trier theology and was on March 3 in 1841 by Bishop Wilhelm Arnold Günther for ordained priests . From 1843 to 1845 he was chaplain in Merzig . In the autumn of 1846 he was appointed pastor in Wadgassen and in August 1846 as a proper teacher at the newly established community and provincial trade school.

On October 18, 1847, he was accepted as a member of the Society of Friends of Antiquity in the Rhineland . During the revolutionary year of 1848 , on the occasion of the birthday of King Friedrich Wilhelm IV, he gave the ceremonial speech entitled: "Speech on Patriotism".

Christian Hermann Wienenbrügge died of a heart attack on April 10, 1851 . A selection of his unpublished poems was published in two editions in 1853.
