Wilhelm Huber (* 1954 in Kempten ) is a German architect .

Life

Willi Huber began a two-year architectural drafting apprenticeship in 1971 . From 1976 to 1980 he studied architecture at the University of Applied Sciences in Munich , with Hubert Caspari among others . After graduating, he worked from 1980 to 1985 in Fauser's office in Munich and in Kempten at Zwerch Girsberger. This was followed by four years with Karljosef Schattner in the diocesan and university building department in Eichstätt . In 1989 Huber opened his own office with his wife Maria in Kempten. Between 1976 and 1979 she worked for Franz Ruf in Munich. Two years after opening the office, Wilhelm Huber was appointed to the Association of German Architects . Willi and his wife Maria have been running the office with their son Felix Huber in Kempten since 2015.

His elaborate design for a new sacred altar in Augsburg Cathedral sparked controversy in 2014 . It was then implemented in a simplified form in 2016.

Participating artists in the construction were, among others, Alf Setzer and Christian Hörl .

Teaching activities and design advisory boards

Between 1997 and 2005, Huber held teaching positions at the Munich University of Applied Sciences and the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences . Between 2005 and 2008 he was a lecturer for sacred building at the University of Munich. From 2006 to 2009 Huber was a member of the design advisory board of the city of Tübingen and between 2011 to 2014 he was a member of the design advisory board of the city of Biberach .
