The monograph was published as early as 1858 and appeared again as a reprint in 1982 . For some time he took on a teaching post at the Kreuzschule in Dresden , where he prepared for his further academic career.

In 1862 he completed his habilitation at the Leipzig University with the habilitation thesis Das Münzwesen Sachsens 1518-1545 according to handwritten sources as a private lecturer . As early as 1859 he was given a position at the Leipzig University Library , initially as an assistant and later as curator , which he held until 1869. In 1867 Pückert received an extraordinary professorship for history at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Leipzig. For more than 30 years, until his death, he taught as a professor at the Leipzig University.

In 1880 he published How were the cathedral and cathedral chapter of Meissen won and secured from the Augsburg Confession? In 1884 his smaller work The small Lorsch Franconian Chronicle (Annales Laurissenses minores), its lost basis and the Annales Einharti , which was published in the reports on the negotiations of the Royal Saxon Society of Sciences in Leipzig, appeared. As a co-author of the commemorative publication on the occasion of the German Historians 'Days in Leipzig in 1894, he wrote The Monasteries and Canons' Monasteries in the Meersen Partition Act (870) . Diplomatic-critical investigations into the history of the reforms of the Benedictine order in the IX. and Xth century that appeared in 1899 and whose publication he no longer lived to see.
