Wilhelm Preetorius (politician)
Philipp Wilhelm Preetorius , also Prätorius (born August 16, 1791 in Stromberg , † July 30, 1863 in Alzey ) was a German leather manufacturer and member of the 2nd Chamber of the Land estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .
Philipp Wilhelm Preetorius was the son of Balthasar Preetorius and his wife Elisabetha nee Brauch. Preetorius, who was a Protestant denomination, married Luise nee Rauschert, the daughter of the trader Philipp Rauschert. The eldest son, Johann Georg Philipp (called Philipp; * June 21, 1822 in Alzey) became a merchant, leather manufacturer and councilor, the fourth son was called Philipp Emil (called Emil; * March 15, 1827 in Alzey; † November 19 1905 in St. Louis, USA) was a lawyer and journalist and emigrated to the USA in 1853, the fifth son Karl Julius Preetorius (called Karl; born September 11, 1830 in Alzey; † June 13, 1901 ibid) became a leather manufacturer and book printer owner in Alzey. His brother-in-law, Georg Philipp Rauschert , was also a member of the state parliament. Philipp Wilhelm Preetorius lived as a leather manufacturer in Alzey.
In 1834 and again from 1851 to 1856 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Estates. He was elected for the constituency Rheinhessen 1 / Alzey and then electoral district Rheinhessen 8 / Alzey. He took democratic positions.
