Wilhelm von Wörndle

Wilhelm von Wörndle (also Wilhelm Wörndle von Adelsried ; born June 16, 1863 at Weiherburg Castle , Innsbruck ; † January 29, 1927 in Glatz ) was an Austrian history painter .

Life

Wilhelm von Wörndle was the son of the landscape painter and etcher Edmund von Wörndle (1827–1906) and Sophie von Attlmayr († 1898). Like his uncle August Wörndle von Adelsfried , Wilhelm studied at the Vienna Academy , where he was a student of the history painter Josef Mathias Trenkwald . In 1893/95 he helped his father with the frescoes in the memorial chapel for Andreas Hofer in St. Leonhard in Passeier . After studying in Rome in 1895/96, he worked with his father on the frescoes of the St. Johann d. T. in Schwaz .

From around 1900 he was based in Glatz, where he worked as a busy church painter.
