William "Will" Bynum (born January 4, 1983 in Chicago , Illinois ) is a retired American basketball player.

college

After playing at Crane High School in Chicago, he went to the University of Arizona . After his sophomore season, he moved to Georgia Tech . He played for the Yellow Jackets , with whom he reached the Final Four of the NCAA Division I Basketball Championship , but there they lost to the Connecticut Huskies .

Professional career

After he signed an off-season contract with the Boston Celtics in 2005, he was disregarded for the regular season. He then played 15 games for the Golden State Warriors . Before that, he played for Roanoke Dazzle in the NBA D-League and was awarded the NBA Development League Rookie of the Year Award . Bynum signed before the 2006-07 season with Maccabi Tel Aviv , where he played for two years before moving to the Detroit Pistons .

On April 5, 2009, Bynum set a club record for the Pistons with 26 points in the 4th quarter against the Charlotte Bobcats for the most points in a quarter. On March 12, 2010, Bynum got 20 assists in a game against the Washington Wizards . The last Pistons player to do so was Isiah Thomas on April 12, 1985.

In October 2014, Bynum was transferred to the Boston Celtics and released shortly thereafter. On December 5, 2014, Bynum announced his move to the Guangdong Southern Tigers in China. In March 2015, however, Bynum returned to the NBA under a ten-day contract and also signed for the duration of the playoffs with the Washington Wizards . The following season he played again in China for Guangdong.

After spending some time with the Atlanta Hawks in the 2016/17 preseason , but not receiving a contract, he then played for the Windy City Bulls in the G-League. His last position was in 2018 for Yeşilgiresun Belediye in the Turkish basketball league .
