Frederick "Fred" House (born January 4, 1978 in Valdosta , Georgia ) is an American basketball player . House won the national championships of Serbia (twice), Lithuania and Ukraine and the Supercopa in Spain with his respective teams in Europe . He plays in the position of shooting guard and has been without a club since autumn 2011 after injury problems.

Career as a player

USA (until 2002)

After leaving school in Killeen in the US state of Texas House first played two years at Dixie State University for the university team Rebels in the league for junior colleges, before going to Southern Utah University went. With the university team Thunderbirds, he played two more seasons in the Conference The Summit League of the NCAA . During this time he came up with a points average of 17.8 per game.

After his college days House was not considered in the highest endowed professional league NBA and therefore went to the Minor League NBA Development League (D-League) to the North Charleston Lowgators, where he later joined the German basketball league famous Bjorn Aubre McKie played together. At the end of the season he was named "Rookie of the Year" in the D-League in 2002. He then played in the summer league United States Basketball League . When a move to the NBA didn't work out in 2002 either, he moved to Europe.

Europe (from 2002)

At his first stop in Europe, House won two Serbian-Montenegrin championships with the Serbian series champion KK Partizan from Belgrade in 2003 and 2004. In the highest European club competition ULEB Euroleague , he was twice in a row the player with the most ball wins per game in the regular season , in the home game against KK Cibona on November 27, 2003 he achieved a career record with 39 points in one game. Nevertheless, Partizan could not qualify for the second group stages. He then moved to Lithuania to Lietuvos rytas, with whom he won the ULEB Cup in 2005. House itself was only used in the regular season, where he scored 38 points on the sixth game day and reached the highest effectiveness rating of all players used on this game day, and could not participate in the finals due to injury. The following season, after winning the ULEB Cup title, they took part in the ULEB Euroleague 2005/06 and reached the second group stage of the sixteen best teams. At the national level, they became Lithuanian champions in 2006 and winners of the Baltic Basketball League in the Baltic States , beating arch rivals Žalgiris Kaunas in the final, against whom they were defeated in both competitions in the final the year before. House himself was named " Most Valuable Player " (MVP) of the final of the Baltic League.

After two years in Lithuania, House moved to the Spanish ACB league in 2006 to become runner-up, cup winner and third-placed Euroleague TAU Cerámica from Vitoria-Gasteiz in Basque . Here he succeeded at the beginning of the season in the Spanish Supercup 2006 after the final victory over the champions Unicaja Málaga . After the regular season they were first in the national league, while in the ULEB Euroleague 2006/07 they advanced to the Final Four after only two defeats in total . While in the championship play-offs the reigning champions Málaga were beaten in the first round and then eliminated in the semifinals against later runner-up Winterthur FC Barcelona , in the Euroleague they also lost the semifinals against the eventual title winners Panathinaikos Athens and then the game for third place against Málaga. For the subsequent 2007/08 season he moved to league rivals Pamesa from Valencia , with whom he was eliminated in the first play-off round of the championship against his ex-club from Vitoria, which then became champions. Also in the ULEB Cup 2007/08 they were eliminated in the quarter-finals at the “Final Eight” tournament in Turin against the eventual title winner Joventut de Badalona .

Fred House (2011)

For the 2008/09 season, House moved to the Russian Lokomotiv Rostov club in Rostov-on-Don . While the club was transferred to Krasnodar in 2009, House moved to Ukraine in 2009 and became Ukrainian champions in 2010 with Azovmash from Mariupol . In the Eastern European VTB United League 2010/11 , in which Azovmash reached the Final Four tournament, he was awarded as MVP of the 10th match day. In 2011 he moved to Dnipro in Dnipropetrovsk , where after a few missions his contract was terminated due to injury.
