Alonzo Gee (born May 29, 1987 in Riviera Beach , Florida ) is an American basketball player. He is currently active for the New Orleans Pelicans NBA team in the position of small forward or shooting guard .
Career
From 2005 to 2009, Alonzo Gee played college basketball for the University of Alabama basketball team . He then signed up for the 2009 NBA draft , but was not selected by any team. He played one season for the Austin Toros in the D-League , averaging 21.3 points and 6.7 rebounds . On September 28, 2009, he signed a contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves , but was released after ten days without a deployment. From March 7, 2010, his next station was the Washington Wizards . For his first appearance in the NBA , Gee came two days later against the Atlanta Hawks . After his second ten-day contract with the Wizards expired, he was released on March 28 and signed by the San Antonio Spurs the next day . The Spurs sent him back to their Austin Toros farm team on April 8th without any action .
Gee came to Spurs for the first time on November 3rd, 2010. After only 5 short appearances, he was released on November 16th. On November 22nd, the Washington Wizards signed him again, but his contract was canceled after eleven games on December 20th. On December 28th he signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers . There Gee received significantly more working time for the first time in his NBA career. In the rest of the season he played 40 games for the Cavaliers, 29 of them in the starting five . In an average of 24.3 minutes, he achieved 7.4 points and 3.9 rebounds .
During the lockout before the 2011/12 season, he played for the Polish team Asseco Prokom Gdynia , but returned to the United States before the end of the lockout. In the 2011/12 season , his playing time for Cleveland increased. In the first 52 games he got an average of 29.2 minutes and used them for 10.6 points with 5 rebounds.
He joined the Denver Nuggets in the summer of 2014 , was sent to Portland during the season , and joined the New Orleans Pelicans in the summer of 2015 . After a year, he moved back to the Denver Nuggets in the summer of 2016.
