Willa Joannachance Holland (born June 18, 1991 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American model and actress .

Holland was born in Los Angeles , California to actress Darnell Gregorio De Palma and cameraman Keith Holland . However, she spent most of her childhood in London . Since 2006, Holland lived with her mother and her little half-sister Piper De Palma in Brentwood , Los Angeles and received home schooling. She attended Paul Revere Middle School and only briefly the Pacific Palisades Charter High School. Her mother and stepfather, director Brian De Palma, are divorced, but she still sees him frequently.

Holland currently lives in Los Angeles , California .

Career

Holland spent the summer of 1998 in the Hamptons on Long Island with her family. After spending a day at Steven Spielberg's house, she decided to become an actress. In her interview with Teen Vogue, she said that Spielberg said, "You have to put her in front of a camera!" Upon her return to Los Angeles the following September, she was awarded a contract with the Ford Modeling Agency at the age of 7 . Her first job was for Burberry , London . The following year De Palma took her to a talent agency. Since then, Holland has done a lot of advertising. In 2001 she worked alongside her biological father in Ordinary Madness , who was working there as a cameraman.

She was best known for the role of Kaitlin Cooper in the American hit series OC, California , in which she appeared from 2006 until the end of the fourth and final season. In May 2010, Square Enix announced that Holland would vote for the character Aqua in the PlayStation Portable game Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep , which was released on September 7, 2010 in North America. In 2010, Holland also played her first leading role in a feature film, the apocalyptic fantasy thriller Legion .

In April 2012, the film Tiger Eyes was released, in which Holland played the lead role as Davey Wexler. The film is based on the 1981 novel Tiger Eyes by the children's and youth author Judy Blume . From October 2012 to January 2020, Holland starred in the television series Arrow , in which she played a leading role as Thea Queen .
