In the Copa Libertadores 2009 he was the club's top scorer with six goals in twelve games. On July 3, 2009, Gremio bought Souza from Paris Saint-Germain and gave him a contract for the 2009-10 season. In 2011 he moved to Fluminense FC . He was then under contract with Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte from April 2012 to December 2013 , but was loaned to Associação Portuguesa de Desportos from January 1, 2013 until the end of the contract .
