Willi Weiskirch

Willi Weiskirch (born January 1, 1923 in Welschen Ennest ; † September 11, 1996 in Altenhundem ) was a German journalist and politician ( CDU ) and from 1985 to 1990 the defense commissioner of the German Bundestag .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1942, he took part in the Second World War as a soldier (most recently as a corporal ) and was wounded several times. He studied newspaper science , history and philosophy at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster .

In 1949 Willi Weiskirch became head of the press office of the Federation of German Catholic Youth (BDKJ) in Altenberg . From 1952 to 1959 he was editor-in-chief of the BDKJ magazine Wacht in Düsseldorf . From 1951 to 1959 he was head of the general Sunday newspaper office in Düsseldorf. From 1959 to 1970 he was editor-in-chief of the Sunday paper and the monthly magazine Mann in der Zeit in Augsburg . The latter was transformed by him into the illustrated worldview . From 1970 to 1979 he was editor-in-chief of the German monthly newspaper .

From 1970 to 1976 he was spokesman for the CDU and from 1976 to 1985 member of the CDU Bundestag , at the same time chairman of the defense working group of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group. In 1976 he won the direct mandate in the constituency of Olpe - Meschede and in the two subsequent elections in the constituency of Olpe - Siegen-Wittgenstein II .

In 1985 he was elected as the first non-officer to the German Bundestag's defense commissioner. After leaving this office in April 1990, he spent his retirement years in his home town of Würdinghausen in the Kirchhundem community.
