Short biography

Not much is known about William Kennedy. The sources are poor. Neither his exact date of birth nor his place of birth or place of death are known. One thing is certain: he came from Sussex County and in 1815 succeeded the resigned Governor William S. Pennington , whose term of office he ended between June 19 and October 26, 1815. According to the state constitution, he must have been a member of the State Council, the later Senate of New Jersey , at that time. Kennedy was a member of the Democratic Republican Party and died on January 1, 1826.
