Willy Egger

Wilhelm "Willy" Egger (born March 8, 1929 in Vienna ; † August 2, 2005 in Berlin ) was an Austrian production and line producer at German film.

Live and act

The son of a tax consultant had volunteered at the Viennese production company Asto-Film and took on several auxiliary functions at the home newsreel before making his debut in 1948 as a production manager at the Marika Rökk production Fregola .

Since the beginning of the 1950s he was also active in the Federal Republic of Germany. In 1954 Egger took part in a production management for the first time, but until the early 1960s he was still mainly active as a production manager. For a long time, the productions supervised by Egger were not very substantial, but he also produced two productions by Wolfgang Staudte in the 1960s , of which the Yugoslav drama Herrenpartie in particular received a lot of attention.

Since the 1970s, Willy Egger has worked as a production manager, including for Billy Wilders, among others, star drama Fedora, which was filmed in the Bavaria Studios in Munich . Since the late 1980s, he served Horst Wendlandt's Rialto Film in this role . Towards the end of his career, the native of Vienna was also involved in the production of several hit comedies by German star comedians Loriot , Otto Waalkes and Hape Kerkeling .

Egger, who is married to a hairdresser, has also worked for television and sporadically appeared in front of the camera with guest roles in some of the films he produced.
