content

The young couple Kathrin and Wolfgang Mertens had planned the future so well: Wolfgang would successfully complete his architecture studies and find work and their son Pips would have a mother who would take care of him in the former secretary Kathrin. Wolfgang, however, fails the final exam and so he has to study for another year, but brings an unknown but very affectionate dog into the house. Kathrin is not very enthusiastic about the new roommate, who is christened Schwips, and decides to look after the family herself. Since her friend Lilo wants to give up her secretary job for marriage and family planning, Kathrin takes over her job.

The new boss Jakob proves to be a modern, eloquent single who is definitely looking for an independent secretary who can also work on weekends. Kathrin hides from him that she is married and thus arouses Wolfgang's suspicion. At the same time, he feels offended in his honor because Kathrin finally wants to get him a job - by chance Jakob is looking for a capable architect who will build his dream house for him. When Jakob goes on a business trip with Kathrin one day, that is another reason for Wolfgang to react jealously, after all, the day is promptly their wedding day . When Kathrin doesn't answer the phone at an agreed time and the porter explains to Wolfgang that she has gone out with Jakob, he invites his new neighbor Uschi to his apartment. Both drink brotherhood and dance in the apartment. When Kathrin calls home, Uschi promptly answers the call. Kathrin then decides to spend the evening with her boss at a dance, despite prior cancellation. For both men the evening ends differently than planned: Wolfgang pours lukewarm chamomile tea into the pips, which are teething and therefore whining for the first time, and Kathrin maintains her composure and says goodbye to Jakob at her hotel door.

After returning home, however, Kathrin immediately moves out of the apartment with Pips, for which she brings one of Uschi's earrings in her marriage bed in addition to the nightly call with Uschi on the line. She flees to Lilo, who tries to convince her that it was all just a misunderstanding. In the meantime, Wolfgang has designed a dream house for Jakob based on Kathrin's stories and had the drawings sent to him by post. Jakob is enthusiastic and invites Wolfgang to inspect the property . Jakob travels to the property with the unsuspecting Kathrin, secretly hoping to build the house for her and himself. Wolfgang, in turn, is driven to the inspection by Uschi, as he does not own a car. The women meet and Uschi explains everything to Kathrin. When they return home, Lilo appears with pips, which Kathrin and Wolfgang take from her. While the couple is going home with their son, Uschi explains the context to Jakob and he vows to only employ secretaries in the future.
