Winfried Stöcker (born January 23, 1947 in Rennersdorf / OL ) is a German physician , scientist , inventor and entrepreneur .

Career

Winfried Stöcker was born in Upper Lusatia in 1947 . In 1960 he and his family moved to West Germany. From 1967 to 1973 he studied medicine in Würzburg and received his license to practice medicine in 1975 . In 1976 he was with a thesis on the determination of the radioactivity and half-life under in vivo conditions with summa cum laude doctorate. After completing his doctorate, Stöcker worked as a troop doctor and company commander in the Air Force . In 1983 he was recognized as a specialist in laboratory medicine . Until 1991, Stöcker was in charge of a laboratory for autoimmune diagnostics at the Medical University of Lübeck .

In 1987 Stöcker founded a laboratory diagnostics company with Euroimmun . The company is now active worldwide and is a leader in the field of laboratory medicine in Germany. The online portals XING and KUNUNU rated the working conditions in Stöcker's company as very good, family- and women-friendly. In particular, this is done through in-house day-care centers and funding programs. Mothers and fathers can quickly return to work. Stöcker became professor at the Tongji Medical University in Wuhan in 1999 and has been honorary professor at the University of Lübeck since 2011 . He is the owner of numerous patents in the field of laboratory medicine.

In addition to his medical activities as a scientist, Stöcker is also an investor . In 2013 he acquired the Görlitz department store and has been an investor in Lübeck Airport since June 2016 . In June 2017 it was announced that Stöcker was selling Euroimmun to the US company PerkinElmer for $ 1.3 billion. The self-made billionaire Stöcker was a member of the FDP from around 2016 to February 2020 .

Stöcker is married and lives in the Lübeck area.

Self-experiment on Covid-19 vaccination

Stöcker is currently researching a vaccine against Covid-19 . According to press reports, Stöcker injected himself three times in March 2020 with a self-developed antigen against SARS-CoV-2 and then developed antibodies.

On December 18, 2014, Stöcker told the Sächsische Zeitung that he “would like to send refugees back to their homeland”; they have "no right to establish themselves in Germany". In an interview, Stöcker also warned of an “ Islamization of Germany”.

As a result, various parties, churches and the University of Lübeck distanced themselves from Stöcker. Stöcker clarified his statements, distanced himself from racist ideas and emphasized that he wanted to point out future problems of migration policy . But he wanted to keep using the word negro . After first the AStA and then the President of the University of Lübeck distanced themselves from him, Stöcker declared in March 2015 that Euroimmun would no longer make any voluntary payments (up to then one million euros per year) for the University of Lübeck and would look for other cooperation partners.

In 2015, Stöcker publicly called for the "overthrow of Chancellor Merkel " on his blog . In an interview in October 2016, Stöcker reiterated his statements and demanded that Syrian refugees only need to move to safe areas within their country in order to avoid the war. No one therefore has to come to Germany illegally. In this interview he spoke about "veiled women" and contradicted the statement of the Saxon Interior Minister Markus Ulbig , who had said that the Görlitz department store was "there for everyone". The Görlitz public prosecutor's office stopped investigations into incitement to hatred in November 2016.

At the end of 2017, in an address to Euroimmun employees, Stöcker expressed himself critical of the #MeToo movement, feminists and journalists. He also published the address on his blog. Among other things, he advised girls that they should "go to the auditions dressed more cautiously and less provocatively, so that the poor directors stay on the path of virtue". He suspected that those in the #MeToo movement shouted "who have been optically endowed less favorably by nature". He advised Euroimmun employees: "(...) many children testify that we can do something to counter the willful, senseless onslaught of unauthorized asylum seekers." In February 2018, the citizens of Lübeck decided not to accept future donations from Stöcker and his companies from him as co-financier of the 875th anniversary of Lübeck in 2018 and commissioned the mayor to publicly distance himself from Stöcker's statements.
