history
The existence of the place has been documented under the name Wingisbach since 1223/34, but it was probably built around the turn of the millennium . Historians disagree about a safe name interpretation . While some interpret the name Wingsbach as the earlier possession of the "Wuno" or "Wüno am Bach", others believe that the word root is "Winigesbach", which translates as "Bach des Winiger".
The history of Wingsbach is in many ways similar to the history of its neighboring towns. During the Middle Ages, they were all caught between the rights of the Abbot of Bleidenstadt and the claims of the Counts of Nassau . The secular lords knew how cleverly to push the original rights of the clergy further and further into the background and finally to let them become ineffective.
Territorial reform
On the occasion of the regional reform in Hesse , the community of Wingsbach voluntarily joined the town of Taunusstein, which was formed the previous year through the merger of neighboring communities, on August 1, 1972. For Wingsbach, as for the other parts of the city, a local district with a local advisory board and local councilor was formed.
