history

The place was first mentioned in 1184 together with the neighboring Oberlibbach . This is a document with which Pope Lucius III. the Bleidenstadt monastery confirmed the ownership of the towns of Strinz-Margarethä and Strinz-Trinitatis , but in which a Lidelbach is also mentioned. The existence of two Libbach locations is clearly proven for the first time in 1360.

The former chapel was converted into a branch church , a Protestant church , in the 14th century .

Unlike in the neighboring towns, in which Nassau-Idstein increasingly asserted itself as the owner of feudal sovereignty, the Bleidenstadt monastery remained a liege in the two Libbach towns until the end of the 18th century. In his successor, the Mainz Cathedral Chapter held considerable rights from 1782. In 1566 Niederlibbach had 14 households, around 1700 around 30 inhabitants.

1 July 1972 Niederlibbach was in the course of administrative reform in Hesse on a voluntary basis in the city Taunusstein incorporated . For Niederlibbach, as for the other parts of the city, a local district with a local advisory board and local councilor was formed.
